POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Manager, Youth Programs and Partnerships provides operational oversight and support of the World Food Prize Foundation’s Youth Institute programs across the U.S. and globally, with a focus on the Global Youth Institute, the Iowa Youth Institute at Iowa State University and educational outreach efforts across Iowa. The position provides organizational leadership and manages aspects of program planning, design and delivery; partner engagement, training and coordination; event planning, facilitation and management; and oversight of operational logistics.

Essential Job Functions

Works with the Director, Youth Programs & Partnerships to direct and deliver the Foundation’s diverse portfolio of youth leadership development and education programs.

Manages aspects of Youth Institute planning, preparation and implementation; budgeting; operations and logistics; outreach and engagement, student and educator training, monitoring and evaluation; communications and social media; and student support and safety.
Coordinates efforts with key partners to create and deliver programs and events, identifying opportunities for collaboration to advance strategic interests.

The World Food Prize Foundation Youth Programs offer impactful experiences and invaluable hands-on opportunities that empower emerging leaders with the skills and knowledge to confront global challenges in food security, agriculture, sustainability and beyond. With over 30 Youth Institutes around the world, a proven model of success and planned programmatic expansion in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas, the Foundation Youth Programs are poised to grow rapidly over the next 5 years. Partnering that growth with unique professional opportunities and mentorship for students and educators will be critical to empowering the next generation to help cultivate a more food-secure, nourished and sustainable future for all.

The Senior Manager will work closely with the Director, Youth Programs and Partnerships to manage, guide and support all aspects of Youth Institute programming - with a special focus on the Global Youth Institute and the Iowa Youth Institute - as well as coordinate with university and industry partners to deliver the Foundation’s education and training programs.

Key duties include:
-Programmatic Management: Responsible for planning, preparation and implementation of all Youth Institute programs, with special focus on the Global Youth Institute and Iowa Youth Institute.
-Facilitation of Student and Educator Experiences: Ensure that student and educator experience is enriching and empowering throughout all aspects of program content creation, design and delivery. This includes emceeing and moderating live events; facilitating trainings, workshops, tours and activities; and regularly presenting to a wide variety of groups and audiences.
-Outreach & Communications: Engage and regularly correspond with partners, educators, students and other key stakeholders through a variety of communication channels (emails, newsletters, social media posts, etc.) and platforms.
-Event Management and Coordination: Manage all aspects of event planning and preparation; volunteer and staff training and coordination; operational logistics, site layout and setup; and on-site facilitation of virtual, hybrid and in-person events.
-Partnership Management: Provide support to organizational leadership on partnership development and relationship management through research, regular correspondence and coordination of day-to-day relationship management tasks.
-Development of Educational Materials and Resources: Create unique and effective content and activities that advances the education, empowerment and experiential learning of students, educators, experts and other stakeholders.

General Administrative Duties:
-Timely internal and external communication via email and other channels of communication.
-Budget management, including annual budget process, expense reporting and other programmatic-level budget duties.
-Data management and tracking of Foundation Youth Program and participant information.

Education

Bachelor's degree and 5+ years experience required; masters degree preferred, but not required.
Generally 8 – 10 years experience may substitute for educational requirements.
Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment, prioritize activities appropriately, and work independently.
Excellent written and verbal communication, and strong interpersonal skills required.
Knowledge of issues in food security, agriculture, sustainable development preferred.
Experience working with youth programming or in organizations focused on youth empowerment, education and development preferred.
Cross-cultural competency and experience working with diverse groups required.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications, especially Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
Experience with database management, especially with Salesforce CRM preferred.

Travel Required

Based in Des Moines, IA. Some national and international travel is required, and occasionally for extended periods (~1 week).
