Job Description

The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting and creating training and events for the Iowa Public Transit Association members. This position is currently classified as a exempt full-time position and is eligible for benefits.

This position is also a hybrid position where you will be able to work from home and attend in-person events and trainings. A strong emphasis will be on implementing trainings, events and communications for the 35 public transit members. This role is being funded by Iowa DOT and will work in conjunction with the Bureau of Public Transit.

Essential Job Functions

-Instruct participants individually and in groups, using various teaching methods, such as lectures, in-person trainings and demonstrations.

-Prepare materials and classrooms for class trainings.

-Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet participants varying needs and interests.

-Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to participants and members.

-Enforce all administration policies and rules governing participants

-Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of Iowa DOT.

-Work in conjunction with the Executive Director of Iowa Public Transit Association and staff of Iowa DOT Bureau of Public Transit to meet objectives of trainings.

-Use computers, audio-visual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations.

-Plan and conduct activities around in-person training events including annual meeting and mid-year training including securing locations, develop agendas, secure speakers, promote trainings and on-day event logistics.

-Develop pre- and post-survey questions to determine need of training topics and effectiveness trainings.

-Market and create e-communications for participants that promote educational and training opportunities.

-Provide status reports to Executive Director and Iowa DOT on status and effectiveness of trainings.


Entry-level individuals may apply, however, 1-2 years experience is preferred.

An Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in a related are is preferred.

Transportation to and from work and events is required.


Compensation range for this position is $54,000 to $65,000. This position is eligible for a benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, life, 401k retirement, paid time off, extended paid time off, and paid parking.
