Job Description

Co-Occurring Counselors assist patients in achieving goals through counseling services. Provides personalized approach to substance use and mental health treatment, and recovery to patients.

As part of UCS Healthcare, team members will follow all laws and regulations, including those at the Federal, State, and Local level. They will also adhere to all UCS policies and procedures, including patient confidentiality, HIPAA/ 42CFR part 2, and all CARF requirements. Essential Job Functions

Assesses clients referred for substance abuse and mental health evaluations and makes appropriate treatment recommendations.

Provides individual and group counseling to patients.

Maintain a client caseload in accordance with assigned duties. With each case, the counselor will provide for detailed records which reflects a comprehensive treatment plan, treatment progress, aftercare, referral, and patient management as set forth by UCS Healthcare policies and State Licensure Requirements.

Performs case management functions such as maintaining case records and coordinating additional services as necessary.

Participate in quality assurance meetings and counselor staffing's.

Maintain credential to supervise licensed interns that are working at the agency and assigned for your supervision of the intern.

Attend approved conferences and meetings to secure and maintain credentials.

Apprise supervisor of problems encountered in case loads

Monitor and provide coverage for agency crisis line.

Additional duties as assigned.

Implement any curriculums identified as appropriate by management.

Interpret referral paperwork to determine appropriate level of care.

Education

Master's Degree in social work, mental health or related field.

Other Formal Training

Licensed in Iowa as an independent clinician (LMFT, LMSW, or LISW) or be working on independent licensing within one year of hire. At minimum, must have a temporary license (tLMHC, LMHC, tLMFT).

Certified or working towards CADC certification within one year of hire.

Experience

Experienced in both the disease of addiction and mental health diagnosis and treatment

Licensed as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFT), Licensed master social worker(LMSW), or Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW)

Current Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) with Iowa Board of Certification

Experience with group facilitation, understanding of substance use disorders and comprehension of counseling theories.
