We have a full-time position available for a Gambling Counselor in Knoxville, Iowa. We offer a competitive hourly wage and benefits package. This opening has a $4000 sign-on bonus to be paid out after 12 months of employment and if in good standing.

Job Title: Gambling Counselor

Reports To: Counseling Supervisor

Job Summary: The Gambling Counselor will provide support and guidance to individuals dealing with gambling addiction and related issues, as well as community outreach efforts specific to gambling addiction and treatment. Through counseling sessions, education, and support groups, the Gambling Counselor will assist clients in overcoming their gambling challenges and develop strategies for recovery. As part of UCS Healthcare, team members will follow all laws and regulations, including those at the Federal, State, and Local level. They will also adhere to all UCS policies and procedures, including patient confidentiality, HIPAA/ 42CFR part 2, and all CARF requirements. All team members will operate in alignment with UCS Healthcare's core values, work effectively in a team environment, provide or support patient-centered services, and strive to assist UCS Healthcare in delivering the highest level of care.

Essential Functions (80%):

Conducting initial assessment, admission and transition planning, providing individual and group counseling to patients.
Performing outreach tasks (50% of total time): Develop, implement, or evaluate public education, prevention, or health promotion programs, working in collaboration with organizations, institutions, or communities.
Maintain a client caseload in accordance with assigned duties
Develop individualized treatment plans. Evaluate treatment plans and define goals with patients served as required by level of care
Complete documentation for patients in required time frame
Participate in quality assurance meetings and counselor staffing
Maintain patient charts and data as mandated by state, federal and agency requirements
Regular Attendance is required
Other Functions (20%):

Instruct others in program methods, procedures, or functions
Offer guidance to family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, and supporting clients or patients
Provide crisis intervention and support during difficult situations for clients in need
Stay updated on the latest research, trends, and treatment methods related to gambling addiction.

Minimum Required Education, Skills & Experience:

Associate degree
Must excel in team environment, adhere to agency policy and procedures, engage in critical thinking and utilize problem solving skills.
Must have Current CADC certification with Iowa board of Certification.
Preferred Education, Skills & Experience:

Will be trained for gambling treatment but experience treating problem gambling is preferred.
Bachelor or Masters Degree.
Supervisory Responsibility (if any): N/A

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
Communicating with others to exchange information.
A valid driver's license is required (an Iowa driver's license is required within 30 days of hire), with liability insurance and reliable transportation.
Work Schedule: Full-time 40 hours per week (20 hours of which will be outreach work expected by grant funding). Based on programming assigned, work hours may vary from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm including Saturdays, depending on client's needs. This individual will work out of our Knoxville, Iowa office but may be requested to any of the agency office locations (West Des Moines, Ankeny, or Knoxville).
