Job Description
Concordia Group is seeking a motivated, entry-level Public Affairs Associate to join our growing team in Des Moines. This position is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional interested in public policy, government affairs, strategic communications, politics, and civic engagement.
The Public Affairs Associate will work closely with Concordia’s team and clients on a diverse portfolio of policy, advocacy, communications, and stakeholder-engagement initiatives. The position offers direct exposure to the Iowa Legislature, federal policy developments, political and regulatory issues, and projects involving business, government, and community leaders.
The successful candidate will be an excellent writer, a thoughtful researcher, highly organized, intellectually curious, and eager to learn. This is an opportunity to develop a strong foundation in public affairs while contributing meaningfully to consequential client projects from the outset.

Essential Job Functions
• Monitor and analyze Iowa legislative and regulatory developments, as well as relevant federal legislation, regulations, and agency activity
• Prepare timely summaries, issue updates, legislative tracking reports, and other materials for clients and internal teams
• Conduct research on public-policy issues, elected officials, government agencies, industries, and stakeholder organizations
• Draft briefing materials, memoranda, talking points, presentations, correspondence, reports, and digital content
• Assist in the development and execution of public-affairs, advocacy, and communications strategies
• Support client meetings, legislative hearings, public forums, conferences, and other events
• Coordinate meeting preparation, scheduling, follow-up materials, and project reporting
• Help maintain relationships and communications with clients, policymakers, community leaders, and other stakeholders
• Participate in team strategy sessions and contribute ideas to client and firm initiatives
Education
Bachelor’s degree preferred
