Job Description
Under the direction of the events team, assist in the preparation of a variety of Partnership events taking place in 2026 focusing on the World Food & Music Festival. The Greater Des Moines Partnership events team produces a variety of events and pop-up activations in Downtown Des Moines and the Greater Des Moines region throughout the year. The event list includes but are not limited to: Downtown Des Moines Farmers’ Market, World Food & Music Festival, Out to Lunch and the Winter Farmers’ Market. This position will include in-office and on-site event hours from March through October.
This position allows for flexibility in working hours throughout the span of the internship. During the summer months, intern is expected to work 20-30 hours/week in our Downtown Des Moines office space within the hours of M-F, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., along with rotating Saturday mornings at the Downtown Farmers’ Market (once per month except for Aug.) and the week of and leading up to the World Food & Music Festival (Aug. 28 – 30). During the school semester, intern is expected to work 10-15 hours/week in our Downtown Des Moines office space or virtually, and occasional nights and weekends as needed for production purposes.

Essential Job Functions
Lead the planning, coordinating and execution of the Culinary Pavilion at the World Food & Music Festival. This includes recruiting local chefs, communication with chefs, information gathering for marketing materials, onsite support and more.
Assist in managing the Food Vendors, Merchants and Nonprofit Organizations for the World Food & Music Festival. This includes contract creation, updating event platform, vendor communication, ensures all insurance documents and payments are received, document and packet creation, credentials and more.
Brainstorm and implement adventure tents at the World Food & Music Festival.
Support entertainment scheduling and administration for the Cultural Stage and Main Stage at the World Food & Music Festival.
Distribute posters and other event marketing materials around the metro to event sponsors and supporters for the World Food & Music Festival as needed.
Provide in-office event support for Events team, which includes inventory of event supplies, event production, communication with vendors, organization of internal documents, phone calls and more.
Provide on-site event support at Out to Lunch and the Downtown Farmers’ Market, which includes set up and tear down of events, transportation of supplies, on-site vendor communication, volunteer management and more.
Support event team by making sure database is updated with current information.
Other duties as assigned.
Education
Working towards Bachelor’s degree in events, business or project management.
Experience
Prior experience assisting at events.
Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 products, including Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, Excel and Word.
Written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to articulate the organization’s philosophy and position to a wide range of audiences and to the media.
Experience in interacting with the community, Investors and the internal teams.
