Job Description
The Director of Membership and Engagement is the primary lead in growing and retaining membership by introducing businesses to the value of joining the organization and building strong relationships with current members to support retention efforts. This position is responsible for recruiting and cultivating relationships with new chamber members, strengthening relationships with current members, and increasing membership retention.

Essential Job Functions
• Recruit new members through calls, visits, and meetings
• Retain existing members via personal visits, telephone calls, electronic correspondence
• Maintain the membership database
• Manage the onboarding process for all new members
• Ensure that members are aware of and take advantage of benefits, including ways to get involved and be engaged via benefit meetings
• Attend monthly Board of Directors meetings and provide updates on membership
• Prepare agenda and host monthly meetings for the Ambassador committee
• Plan and execute New Member Mixer events (4/year)
• Plan and execute Speed Networking events (3/year)
• Schedule and execute all ribbon cuttings
• Assist in the budget process for membership including new dues, retention figures and
non-dues income, as well as Ambassador income and expenses
• Assist in the annual Total Resource Campaign (TRC) which promotes and sells the sponsorships and promotional opportunities for the Ankeny Area Chamber
• Active attendance at monthly Chamber events, Business After Hours and Lattes & Leads
• Active attendance and assist in preparation as requested at yearly events including Annual Dinner, Mentoring for Women, Spring and Fall Golf Outings, Minority Owned Business Summit, Witches Night Out, Discover Ankeny, additional events as added
• Assist in planning and weekend attendance at Ankeny Chamber SummerFest held the second weekend of July
• Active involvement on Chamber committees, with the opportunity to attend/serve on community committees as applicable
• Provide support to Chamber staff and Executive Director as needed; other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
• Able to stand and walk for extended period of times
• Able to carry up to 25 pounds or more
• Able to sit at a desk comfortably while working on a computer for extended periods
• Able to set up and tear down at event
Experience
• Three to five years’ office and sales experience
• Experience working with a volunteer driven organization
• A demonstrated record or leadership experience in business or non-profit organization
