DSM is a place that truly offers it all. From a vibrant restaurant scene to culture events, festivals and sporting experiences, there’s something here for everyone.

One of Angela’s favorite things about living in the DSM region is the expansive trail system. With more than 800 miles of recreational trails, there’s always a new path to explore. In West Des Moines, the Jordan Creek Trail spans over eight miles and offers several opportunities to hop off the path for shopping or dining.

After a day on the trails, Angela likes to grab a bite to eat. Fire Creek Grill, an easy stop from the Mills Civic Parkway Trail, offers steak and seafood specials with a full bar and patio. In Des Moines, Angela’s favorite is Simon’s, a small Italian restaurant with a big menu full of American and Italian classics.

Another of Angela’s favorites is the Iowa State Fair! There’s nothing like spending a day in August at the fairgrounds enjoying livestock, music and entertainment, games and rides and, of course, the delicious and endless options for food. The Iowa State Fair is held for 11 days in August and attracts over a million visitors from all over the world.
