Kalen says that Greater Des Moines thrives on connection, making the community one of her favorite things about living here. Kalen credits organizations like Habitat for Humanity, the local chambers of commerce and the Homeowners Association of Greater Des Moines for empowering her as an individual and entrepreneur.  

Another one of Kalen’s favorite things about Greater Des Moines (DSM) is the family-friendly environment. From kid-centered events to a handful of parks to pick from, her family has an easy time finding fun and engaging activities for the whole family. Her favorites are the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, Blank Park Zoo, Wilson’s Orchard and Farm and Saylorville Lake. 

Kalen also says that the affordability of DSM makes the quality of life that much better. As a local builder and realtor, Kalen is excited to see the region grow and continue to improve!
