I grew up in a small town, so moving to here felt like becoming a “big city girl.” What I’ve come to love, though, is that despite its growth, the region still feels like a small town; you’re always running into friends at the grocery store or around town.
One of Randi’s favorite things about the DSM region is its expansive trail system. With more than 800 miles of recreational trail, there’s always a new path to explore; whether biking, walking, or running. Along the way, riders can stop at art installations, breweries, coffee shops, and even encounter a few goats.
After a ride, she refuels with sushi at Wasabi, where the vibes are always good. Beyond the inviting atmosphere, the menu features everything from fresh sushi and bento boxes to craft cocktails and sake.
Randi also enjoys attending community events like the Fourth of July Celebration and WinterFest. In the Waukee Triangle, she’s a regular at the Waukee Farmers Market, held every Wednesday throughout the summer.
