Greater Des Moines has the best of both worlds in the whole country with amenities of a big city, great restaurants, excellent resources, a reasonable commute and the affordability of a smaller city.
In Greater Des Moines (DSM), there’s always something fun to do as a family. One of Luke’s favorites is the Blank Park Zoo, a 49-acre facility that cares for more than 2,500 animals. Kids can enjoy unique programs and classes such as Stroller Safari, Zoo Juniors, and Blank Park Boogie.
When it’s time to get outside and stay active, DSM’s more than 800 miles of connected recreational trails offer endless possibilities. Whether biking, rollerblading, walking, or running, families can enjoy a relaxing afternoon in nature or fit in a refreshing outdoor workout. The extensive trail system makes it easy to explore the community while staying active.
For a dose of creativity and culture, the Des Moines Art Center is another favorite stop. Admission is free to view its world-renowned collections, which span from the 1500s to the present day. Visitors of all ages can also participate in art classes, making it a place not only to appreciate creativity, but to develop it.
