With two children, one of Todd’s favorite things about the DSM region is easy access to great parks. Triumph Park in Waukee is a standout, featuring sensory play, STEM panels and mobility device access at various levels. In Windsor Heights, Colby Park is located along the trail system, making it the perfect stop on your evening stroll.
After spending some time at the parks, Todd likes to visit the local breweries. Voted USA Today’s #1 Brew Pub in the United States in 2025, Lua Brewing is a can’t miss. Other favorites include Big Grove Brewery & Taproom in Des Moines and Barn Town Brewing in West Des Moines.
